About project

Our team built Alpha-Gal Pal, a mobile app that empowers individuals to manage their allergies and food sensitivities with ease. Users can scan or search foods, check ingredients against their allergen list, and instantly know if a product is safe to consume. The entire app was designed and developed by our team in just 1.5 months.

Our role

We collaborated with the client to:

Define and document the product requirements
Design an intuitive mobile platform experience
Build the mobile app from the ground up
Conduct QA with detailed test cases to ensure reliability

Deliverables

✔️ Authentication - Android & iOS login, user profile.

✔️ Allergen Lists - Default allergens on signup + personalized allergen management.

✔️ Food Database - Edamam API integration for product and nutrition info.

✔️ Barcode Scanning - Camera scan, product suggestions, ingredient matching.

✔️ Manual Search - Find products by name with same allergen checks.

✔️ Results – After scanning or searching, the app shows if the product is safe, must not be consumed or should be avoided.

✔️ Scan History - Stores recent scans, mark items Safe/Avoid.
